Yes yes, I'm joining it. I don't actually expect anyone to respond |D

I have a horrible migraine right now, but only one class to teach. So I'm going to slog through it and then take the afternoon off.

I just realized I have less than 2 weeks left of work because I get a 4 day summer holiday and that means I don't have to go to school the last 4 days after my goodbye ceremony. It also probably means I will be procrastinating on packing and cleaning, but I now have 3 full weeks to do it all in instead of two. Oh, and only 4 days in Osaka instead of 7. But that's still 4 days in Osaka!

Uhh...

I feel kind of stupid asking for this here but...

Does anyone have an Inksome invite code they want to give me?

So...

Yeah... I play Indiana Jones on the internet now. It's kind of a big deal. XD
loquacious: (I both rue and lament this decision)
After a long (and awesome) weekend of drinking, DnD and seeing friends I came home exhausted and slept for as long as I could (8 hours! a record for the month!) and then was too tired and lazy to want to ride to work Monday morning. But SURPRISE! My car refused to start. I biked to work (and was really late) and told my supervisor I needed help with my car troubles. She didn't have time ALL DAY to help me, so in the end I decided fuck it, I will ask my Japanese teacher who I just happened to have a lesson with that afternoon. After arguing with me over how to say my car wasn't working (I was using the word for "broken" and she had a different word, and I was just concerned with the fact that MY CAR DOESN'T GO) she called someone she knew who fixed cars in his spare time who came over and told me that yes, my car was indeed dead. VERY dead. One of my pistons is apparently shot.

It will cost more to fix the engine than I paid for the car to begin with. So there goes all the money I was hoping to get from selling my car when I leave. As it is, I will be lucky if I don't have to pay to have it hauled off. Okay, I needed to get rid of the car anyway... but this is not the way I wanted to do it!

It doesn't help that my supervisor, who is supposed to be helping me with all of this, seems utterly clueless and is the exact opposite of helpful. I'm starting to get really worried that stuff isn't going to get done so I can move home.

I just want to go home....

I watched Conan the Barbarian the other day... I have no idea what took me so long. Arnold Schwarzenegger punches a camel! He actually abuses several animals throughout the movie, it's classy. And James Earl Jones is in it.

In other news, it's hot in Japan. Like... VERY hot. And so humid. I swim to school more than ride my bike. My school doesn't understand the concept of Air Conditioning. Or fans. Ah, summer.

Nothing like impotent frustration to start off your day.

Goddamn it, I wish I had some idea about what to do about this. I hate crying at work.

It's been a while since I updated. Probably because I haven't been doing anything all that interesting.

I did pack a really awesome box last night. I sent home my Square Enix limited edition preview book, the big Reborn puzzle I bought a while back along with the little Kingdom Hearts one I got the other day, about half of my Gundam models wrapped up in a couple of the shirts I intend to keep, the little pink bunny from Chobits that I actually got in America and somehow ended up in Japan with me and a few little stuffed Pokemon dolls. I felt like a very responsible adult sealing that up and shipping it home. |D My parents will be so confused when they open it. I think there might be some mameshiba in there as well.

List 10 of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

1. Death Note - Near
2. Hetalia - Russia
3. King of Bandit Jing - Kir
4. Farscape - John Crichton
5. Reborn - Dino
6. Naruto - Gaara
7. Samurai Champloo - Jin
8. Dark Tower - Cuthbert Allgood

10. Kingdom Hearts II - Roxas

But I have a reason for posting BEYOND showing it off.

I started a community for my fiction: [community profile] loquacity

I think I might have set it up really weirdly... I did this late last night on very little sleep. But I will approve anyone who wants to join/watch it and the posts should be open for anyone to view. I will have kink bingo stuff up there soon.
loquacious: (lr - follow the rainbow)
Okay... So I've been slacking off on my writing hard core lately. And I miss it. But I don't tend to do it unless I have a deadline or some sort of reason. I also really like filling requests/challenges so here's my thought...

For every day in June, I will write something. All of it fiction, none shorter than 200 words. I will write original stuff, but I prefer to write from one of my many fandoms.

So what I need from you, the good reader, is a prompt or two or six. To make it interesting please give me ONLY 2 of the following things:

  • Theme

  • Line/phrase that must be included

  • Fandom

  • Character

  • Pairing

  • Kink

So that means if you want to see a character or characters from one fandom in the setting of another, I will write that. I will probably make at least 1/3 of them NSFW... and if you ask for that I will do my best (obviously anyone who picks a kink will tend toward that).

Major fandoms include:

Death Note, Hetalia (I do best with Eastern Europe), Reborn, Final Fantasy XII, Dark Tower, Bleach (although I'm not current on the manga) and Digimon 01/02

This is by no means the only stuff I will write, so poke me if there's something else you want. Chances are, if I know it, I will write it.

When I get enough, I will throw them randomly onto one of my 100 or so calenders (seriously, Japan, stop giving me calenders) and post a list of what I'm doing when so you guys can call me on it if I skip a day or a prompt.

Aaaaaand I have probably forgotten something... so watch for falling edits.
loquacious: (bas - boobies from below)
So I've started watching Supernatural... on top of Basquash and about 4 other things I keep up with regularly. I have a 650gig external hard drive and I recently had to clean out about 50gigs of that because I wanted new stuff and WAS OUT OF ROOM. But yeah, I can see why Supernatural has such a HUGE and INSANE fandom. So far the episodes are really predictable, like baseball bat to the head obvious, but yet I find myself wanting to watch the next one and the next one. Curse you interesting characters! I will ignore your plot holes and obvious lack of research, just keep being worthwhile.

I have apparently changed quite a bit since I've joined CFUD, and I'm not really that surprised. According to some of the people on my LJ flist who I see in real life from time to time, I've started using strange words they don't know (like flist XD) and generally being more upbeat and cheerful in my posts there. I think that's a good thing, but they worry that I'm hooked on crack. To that claim I must humbly say "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALA". Shut up... I love my crack.

Which brings me to another point: I leave Japan in August. This is coming up faster than I realize and I need to start getting myself together to come home. It also means that I'm open to requests for anything people back home might want from the land of robots and crazy. I will be making a nerdly pilgrimage sometime before I leave Japan, and I'm more than happy to pick up little things for anyone who wants them. (some of you I already picked little things up for and need to get back to me with info *coughDEANcough*) The key is you have to let me know what to be on the look out for. SO LET ME KNOW!

Since it doesn't exactly fit as the first part of Fuel I'm not posting it as a chapter, though it may evolve into one later. I just happen to like this idea.

1,603 words. Worksafe.

I have no interesting cut text today )

Last November I wrote up an idea that had been chewing on me for National Novel Writing Month. I didn't end up getting 10,000 words in 30 days, nor did I end up happy at all with the story I wrote. But the idea still gnaws on me sometimes, so I'm going to start cleaning it up, rewriting it and posting it here.

The basic story is about Haithe, a city shunned by the rest of the world because of a "curse" placed on it. In order for the people of the city to live with the curse they must burn a special cool burning fuel every night. The narrative revolves around Daniel Shane who owns the factory that makes the fuel, Baylor Moss sheriff of the town and Alina Rane the new priestess whose arrival could not have happened at a worse time. The working title is, as you might have guessed, Fuel. That's what I will be posting it under until I have a better name.

❶ Choose an episode of anime or television series you have on your computer. Make sure you're certain you want that one, you cannot change or mind once you skips this step. DO NOT TELL YOUR FLIST WHAT YOU CHOSE.
❷ Make note of how long the episode is here -> 25:01
❸ Ask your flist to choose a time between 00:00 and whatever the length of your episode is. Be specific, (ie: 19:11, 21:09, 02:42)
❹ Make them an icon using THAT FRAME ONLY no matter what it is. And remember, you can only use that ONE episode you chose previous, even if the person posting isn't familiar with it.

I'm happy to do more than one as well. ♥

ETA: fixed the time! It was longer than I thought...

I really would like a better layout... but I have no idea what I'm doing to make one myself. Anyone know where I can find some decent pre-made ones? Or good instructions on how to do it myself?

I think I'm going to start posting pieces of my original writing here. I really want to rework the novel I did for NaNoWriMo last year into something I don't hate. It had potential, I just pushed it too hard. I think I might slow down and try it again in smaller pieces.

I started watching Basquash... which I recommend to anyone looking for something new who doesn't mind that it makes no sense whatsoever. I would tell you what it's about, but first I would have to figure out what it's about. Actually, first I think it would have to have a solid story line to be followed, then I would have to be able to figure out what it is, then I would have to figure out how to explain it. I should take some screen shots and make some icons.

Tonight I have thought to myself several times that Katamari Damacy makes no sense. This was thought in a way that implied it SHOULD make sense, but suddenly doesn't. Not a good sign of my mental health.

I have absolutely no motivation right now for anything. I don't have anything really pressing due or anything, I just can't seem to get the energy to not be a lazy blob and really, I don't want to be a lazy blob. I just need to not want it more maybe?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to kick a blob-like funk?

There is a shop in my city... oh what a shop. A shop of wonders and joys... the SECOND HAND SHOP!

Seriously, I have found some amazing things at this place, including but not limited to:
  • kimonos
  • obi
  • my pint sized guitar
  • A full CLAMP chess set
  • My huge (and phallic) Squallo figure ♥
  • and...
  • ME AND MY KATAMARI!

The one game I was 100% sure I wanted for my new PSP. I looked at both of the huge second hand game stores in my city and out of hundreds of other games... no Katamari. I looked for about 2 seconds at Second Chance (aka the Second Hand Shop of Awesome) and I find it. For about half the price of games at the other store.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go play this game until my thumbs hurt.
loquacious: (Got a light?)
So due to the happenings described here I am now in possession of a shiny new PSP... And realizing I have no idea how to get the most out of it. So that's where you kind people of the internet come in.

What games/themes/other cool stuff that I don't totally understand yet for PSP should I be looking for?

I play a little bit of everything (except sports games [football, baseball etc]) so any suggestions game wise are good.

That said... it would be nice to leave out ones that require a lot of reading and answering questions since I'm still in Japan, I can only get Japanese games at the moment and my Japanese isn't terrific. I'm getting through Dissidia okay, and I don't mind walkthroughs, but something like Gyakuten Kenji is a no go for me.

Thank you, Wonderful Internet People!!
